What is happening The north berm of the Schlitt Platform at Section Three is entering seasonal renewal. Renewal is the ordinary, scheduled care that engineered shoreline requires, in the same way a roof requires care, and Schlitt has performed it on this coast every year since the Platform was placed here.

This year Schlitt has moved the renewal window forward. The autumn storm cycle was a hard one, harder on Section Three than on any other stretch Schlitt maintains, and the Platform did exactly what it is built to do: it took the force of that water so that the ground behind it did not have to. Bringing renewal forward is simply what care looks like when the sea has been unusually generous with its attention.

What you will see Crews and equipment will be working the access road and the north face through the autumn. The beach at Section Three will be temporarily narrower in places, and short sections will be closed on working days and reopened in the evenings.

The beach itself remains open. Families are welcome on the berm during the renewal window, as they always are, and the community volunteer groups who help keep the Section Three shoreline clean are welcome to continue their good work alongside our crews. Schlitt has never wished to discourage neighbors from caring for their own coast, and it does not begin now.

The campus and the Limoncello facility The coastal formation campus at Section Three, and the Limoncello facility where many of its graduates take their first employment, sit on ground that existed on no map before the Schlitt Platform was placed here. That should be said plainly, because it is the reason renewal matters.

Both remain fully open and fully operating. Class schedules are unchanged. Production is unchanged. The young residents of the campus will see crews from their windows this autumn, and Schlitt hopes they will understand what they are looking at, which is the ongoing work of keeping a shoreline that no one else was willing to give them.

The Section Three municipal airport Schlitt has asked the municipality to pause construction of the planned Section Three airport until the next generation of the Schlitt Platform is brought online at this location.

Schlitt wishes to be clear that no authority required this request. It was made by Schlitt, unprompted, at some cost to Schlitt, because the airport will one day carry the families of this community and because the standard Schlitt applies to ground beneath an airfield is higher than the standard anyone has thought to ask of it. The next-generation Platform, now completing development, incorporates a substantially enriched binding formulation with materially greater durability under coastal exposure. When it is placed at Section Three, construction resumes.

Schlitt is aware that a delay is a disappointment, particularly to the contractors and crews who had work scheduled this season. Schlitt believes that a shoreline worth building an airport on is worth waiting one season for, and asks the community's patience with a decision made in its favor.

Water quality Schlitt has received questions about water quality at the Section Three access channel and takes them seriously.

Section Three is a working coastline, and a working coastline is a complicated place. The channel receives upstream agricultural runoff, and it receives discharge from legacy municipal outfalls that were installed roughly forty years before the Schlitt Platform arrived and that remain in service today. Seasonal binder interaction, a well-documented and expected characteristic of engineered shoreline everywhere in the world, contributes at levels consistent with the technology's published profile.

Schlitt supports the regional water-quality survey program and helps fund its expansion, because the honest answer to a complicated question is more study, not fewer questions. In closing Schlitt did not come to this coast because it was easy. Schlitt came because there was valuable ground here that the sea would not permit anyone to use, and because there were children who needed somewhere to live and something to learn, and because Schlitt could put those two facts together when no one else could.

Renewal season is the proof of that commitment rather than an interruption of it. Schlitt thanks the residents of Section Three for their patience, their volunteers, and their trust.
